08/22/2003 Archived Entry: "Welll, I've finally done it."
I'm on the first diet I've ever been on. After quasi-scientific research, taking into account my own laziness, Jen and I are doing Weight Watchers. We aren't doing the cult-sounding WW meetings, just following the book and counting our points. It's ok, but if you try it don't do what I did. At my weight I was alloted 33 points per day, which really is a decent amount. You can't eat crap, but you don't go hungry.
Rather than eating anywhere near my 33 points, I ate somewhere in the range of 20-25. I was no hungrier eating this amount (since many things like fresh veggies are 0 points), but after a week or so of imbibing low amounts of calories I crashed like a two engine airplane with a moose in the cargo compartment. The morning I did so I couldn't even think clearly enough to get myself ready for work, nevermind getting to a job that requires that I think all day. Lack of sleep and lack of calories is a bad combination; I'm glad I didn't attempt to drive in that day.
Things are better now...during that day I went over my points (Stagg Classic Chili is 10.5 points per can, by the way), and that improved dramatically. I'm now eating closer to my 33 points, though that's not easy. I can't eat a pizza (7-10 points per slice), and I've switched to aspartame drinks, but I'm starting to feel a little better.

My sister lost like 75 lbs on Weight Watchers, and she's kept most of it off. Posted by Chuk @ 08/26/2003 11:07 AM PST |
